Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 22, 2026
This policy explains our data practices in plain language. It is provided for transparency and general information and is not legal advice. Before you rely on it as your final published policy, have it reviewed by a qualified professional and insert your registered legal entity name and address where indicated.
BabyNameSpot (โweโ, โusโ, โourโ), operated by [insert your registered entity name], runs the website at babynamespot.com. We respect your privacy and collect only what we need to run our name-generation tools and community features. This policy describes what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Name generation: the parents' first names, gender preference and language choices you enter. These are used to produce suggestions and are not required to be your real names.
- Astrology / Kundli tools: a baby's or child's birth date, time and place, if you choose to use those features.
- Account details: if you create an account โ your name, email address, an optional mobile number, and a securely hashed password.
- Community activity: names you โloveโ, shortlists you save or publish, names you submit, and comments you leave.
- Messages: anything you send us by email or through a contact form.
Information collected automatically
- Your IP address, browser and device type, pages visited and general usage patterns.
- Cookies and similar technologies (see the Cookies section below).
- If you enable browser notifications, a push-subscription token from your browser's push service (used only to deliver the notifications you asked for).
2. How we use your information
- To generate name suggestions and run our astrology, numerology and Kundli tools.
- To create and manage your account, and to verify your email address.
- To save your loved names and publish shortlists at your request.
- To review and publish community name submissions and comments.
- To send transactional messages (such as email verification and password resets) and, if you opt in, notifications and updates.
- To keep the site secure, prevent abuse and spam, and improve our tools.
- To display advertising that helps keep the core site free.
3. Cookies & advertising
We use a small number of cookies: essential cookies for sessions and security, and cookies set by third parties for analytics and advertising.
We use Google AdSense to show ads. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can control personalised advertising at Google Ad Center and learn more at Google's advertising policies. You can also manage cookies in your browser settings.
4. Third-party services we rely on
We share the minimum data necessary with trusted providers who process it on our behalf:
- Brevo โ sends our transactional and notification emails (receives the recipient email address and message content).
- Google AdSense โ advertising.
- Hosting provider โ stores the site and its database on secure servers.
- Astrology data API โ birth details you enter for Kundli features are sent to a third-party astrology calculation service to generate the report.
- Content delivery networks / Google Fonts โ deliver fonts and scripts; these may receive your IP address as a normal part of loading the page.
We do not sell your personal information.
5. How long we keep it
We keep account and community data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Anonymous name-generation inputs are not tied to your identity. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time (see Your Rights).
6. Your rights & choices
- Access & correction: ask for a copy of your data or have it corrected.
- Deletion: ask us to delete your account and personal data.
- Notifications: turn off browser notifications any time in your browser's site settings.
- Marketing: unsubscribe from optional emails using the link in the email.
To exercise any of these, email support@babynamespot.com. We'll respond within a reasonable time.
7. How we protect your data
We use industry-standard measures โ encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information and to limit what we collect in the first place.
8. Children's privacy
Our site is intended for adults (expectant and new parents). It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll revise the โLast updatedโ date above and, for significant changes, provide a more prominent notice.
